5nine Software Releases Cloud Security v7 Azure Pack Extension as the only Security Solution for the Microsoft Private Cloud Platform

The New Azure Pack Extension adds Antivirus Security as a Service, the Bitdefender Antivirus Engine, and Automatic Protection

CHICAGO, IL (Jan. 26, 2016) 5nine Software, the leading global Hyper-V virtualization security and management provider, today announced the release of the only Security as a Service (SECaaS) solution for hosting providers to protect their datacenter, their customers, and their clouds - 5nine Cloud Security Azure Pack Extension v7. The new version enables antivirus scans for tenants’ virtual machines with protection from Bitdefender, Kaspersky Labs or ThreatTrack, and provides these scans as an extra service to end customers through the self-service portal. V7 automatically protects virtual machines (VMs) without requiring any installation, provides advanced logging and alerting capabilities, and amplifies intrusion detection (IDS) through integration with Cisco Snort for Business.

"This extension to the new 5nine Cloud Security version 7 allows self-service users and admins to control more of their security settings through Windows Azure Pack," said Symon Perriman, VP of Business Development at 5nine Software. "Tenants can now protect themselves with the highly-rated Bitdefender antivirus engine, and admins can ensure that every virtual machine gets automatically protected as soon as it is created to minimize their attack surface."

Advanced intrusion detection is now available in a free upgrade to Cisco Snort for Business. This version provides access to a community that continually reviews, tests, and offers improvements to the Cisco Snort source code to detect all possible types of network attacks. It also allows customers to have centralized updating and immediate access to the latest signatures, instead of having to wait for up to a month.

Other highlights of the new version include:

  • Automatic & Immediate Protection with Default VM Security: A virtual machine can now be instantly placed into a security group as soon as it is created, ensuring it has globally consistent firewall, intrusion detection, and network traffic scanning settings. This will save valuable operational resources, increase performance, and reduce the risk of misconfigured security policies.
  • Enhanced Security Event Logging, Filtering and Reporting: 5nine Cloud Security v7 allows certain conditions to create automated responses to network security events so the admins and tenants can customize the event’s alerting threshold and retention policy.
  • Antivirus and Intrusion Detection Scanning and Update Management: 5nine customers can now gain more control over performance of the system by designating a maximum number of simultaneous AV scans in order to prevent hosts from CPU or storage bottlenecks for tenants. 5nine Cloud Security also offers a centralized approach for updating the antivirus and intrusion detection signatures for entire Hyper-V infrastructure through local proxy servers minimizing their vulnerability to being attacked from public Internet.

5nine Cloud Security v7 is available immediately. It is licensed per 2 CPU, starting at $199. For more information or to download a free 30-day trial version, please visit:
