5nine Virtual Firewall for Hyper-V now supports IPv6. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
in case you need to enable IPv6 filtering.
5nine Security Manager that includes Anti-Virus and Virtual Firewall for Hyper-V is a powerful and easy to use Security and Compliance solution for Microsoft Hyper-V and Server 2008 / R2. 5nine Virtual Firewall controls network traffic between virtual machines (VMs) and allows to manage Security of your Hyper-V environment programmatically on per-VM basis; ‘Smart Anti-Virus’ detects and blocks malicious activities and improves the security of Hyper-V virtualized environment without utilization bottlenecks.
Both SMB, large size Enterprise deployments or hosting providers need Anti-Virus and Virtual Firewall to harden security of the virtual machines and the Virtual host system.
Features and Benefits:
- Controls Network Traffic – Using simple PowerShell API/scripts or intuitive Management application an administrator can define/modify various firewall rules to allow or restrict various types of network traffic coming from the external network to Hyper-V virtual machines, or vise versa, and between the virtual machines. It allows to protect the Virtual Machines and the Host System from both 'outside' and 'inside' vulnerabilities.
- Security Heartbeat Service – Special service continuously checks if the network traffic rules are enforced, and can stop or pause the virtual machine if its network filter is not communicated to ensure that VM is not compromised.
- Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware protection - AV/AS scans are randomized based on the virtual environment workload analysis and resource utilization trends, which allows to avoid resource utilization problems and performance degradation when multiple AV/AS scans are running.
- Bandwidth Throttling – 5nine Virtual Firewall includes VM "Bandwidth Shaper".
- Stateful Packet Inspection.
- Deployment options – 5nine Virtual Firewall can be used with Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager templates when virtual machine is provisioned on Hyper-V / Server 2008 host, or to be deployed on the physical machine(s) prior to P2V Migration.
- Compliance Audits – Enables successful compliance audits by providing the ability to monitor, report on, and filter virtual network traffic effectively.
5nine Virtual Firewall provides an ability to monitor and control network traffic between virtual machines and external (physical) network, as well as between virtual machines. System Administrator can define the rules for different types of traffic coming to/from virtual machines, as well as the ports used. This could be done both programmatically (with simple PowerShell API), or using administrative application running on a management Virtual machine or a standalone web server.
Special heartbeat service continuously checks if the security rules/policies are enforced, and stops/pauses the virtual machine if its network filter is not communicated, which prevents exposure of the VMs to wide range of exploits.
5nine Virtual Firewall for Hyper-V now includes Sophos Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware engine as a first, and unique solution for Microsoft Virtualization platform. Randomizing the scans based on the virtual environment workload and trend analysis is very important, as it allows to avoid resource utilization problems and significant performance degradation when multiple AV scans are running.
By controlling incoming and outgoing network traffic for each Hyper-V virtual machine 5nine Virtual Firewall helps to improve the security of a virtual environment, and enforces various compliance best practices and standards, including PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard).
5nine Virtual Firewall can be used with Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager when virtual machine is provisioned, or deployed on the physical machine(s) prior to P2V Migration.
5nine Virtual Firewall for Hyper-V is currently priced $24.99 per VM per year.
